Enter the Readers as Writers Contest The Key Newspaper invites you to enter its annual writing contest. You may enter the Readers as Writers Contest if you are an adult student enrolled in a Wisconsin Basic Skills, GED/HSED, Adult High School, or English as a Second Language class or tutoring program. Students in adult literacy programs at correctional institutions are included. Entries can be stories, poems, opinion writing, song lyrics, raps or journal entries of up to two typewritten pages. Use an assignment from an instructor or enter something you have written on your own. You may submit two entries. Each entry must be in a different category or genre (jan-rah). Entries must be family friendly The deadline for all entries is March 13th, 2009. Each entry must include your name, mailing address, literacy program and location and instructor’s name clearly at the top of the first page. Put your name and instructor’s name on the second page. We ask that teachers and tutors send all entries. We also ask that they review and approve all submitted work before sending it out. Submit entries by e-mail as a Word attachment to balistrv@matc.edu. Entries also will be accepted on diskette. Please put RAW Entry in the subject line. Winners will be announced in May. Contest sponsors include The Key Newspaper, the Wisconsin Technical College System, Milwaukee Area Technical College, the Milwaukee Public Library, and the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
