Make a Pretty Suncatcher With Pressed flowers

The flowers in your garden don't have to die with the season.  Your flowers can remind you of summer all year round by making this easy-to-assemble suncatcher for your kitchen or bedroom window.

Materials:

Pressed flowers

White glue (to which you add a few drops of water)

Paper towels

Flat rock or stone

Small paintbrush (to apply the glue)

Copper tape (find this at an art supply or hardware store)

Two pieces of glass cut to the same size

Small piece of copper wire

Clear suction cup with hook.

Step 1:  Pressing the flowers

You can create pressed flowers in your microwave.  Simply place the flowers you  want to press between two doubled-up paper towels.  Then put a rock, or heavy, flat object on top. Microwave it on high for about two minutes.  Make sure the heavy object is microwave-safe.

Microwave temperatures vary, so you'll have to check it until the flowers are just perfect.  In no time, you will have beautiful pressed flowers ready for the craft.

Step 2:  Creating the suncatcher

Start off with the two pieces of glass cut to the same size. Place a dab of glue in the center of the flowers you have chosen for your suncatcher.

Arrange the flowers in the center of one of the glass pieces.  Once the flowers is secure, place the second piece of glass on top.

Take the copper tape, and wrap it around the outer edges of the glass.  Go all the way around making sure the tape is centered.

Next fold the sides of the tape in, creating a frame around the suncatcher and securing the glass pieces together.

Using the same tape, apply a thin piece of copper wire to the top.  Now take a suction cup that has a hook on it; place it on the window.  Hang the new suncatcher on it.  And your garden lives on!
