KiteFest 2019

Nearly 100 teams of children — including many from Liberty City — did a bit of soaring April 6 when they built, decorated, and flew kites at Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park.

Volunteers helped families supervise kite construction, assembling colorful paper, ribbons, and plenty of smiles. A short time later, up went the kites — and people’s spirits — into a brilliant blue sky.

The KiteFest was the idea of Barbara and Stan Schwartz from Key Biscayne with sponsorship from The Islander News, First Service Real Estate, the Key Biscayne Community Foundation and many others within the Community to benefit the Chief Press Foundation and its Sister City Initiative with the children of Liberty City.
