Key Biscayne Police arrested a 20-year-old Hialeah man on drug-related charges last month after making a traffic stop at the intersection of Harbor Drive and W. Heather Drive, records show.

Police reports say Jose Alberto Rodriguez Ruiz was charged May 21 with felony possession of a controlled substance. He was also accused of possession of drug paraphernalia.

An officer wrote that as part of a stop involving a moving truck, police asked the man to consent to a search. One officer found a glass smoking pipe with burnt residue. The defendant, police say, said that he had a “small baggie” of cocaine inside his right sock.

Rodriguez Ruiz entered a plea of not guilty, court records show. He was released on $500 bond.
