COVID-19 – Your Wednesday Afternoon Update

Good Afternoon, VKB Residents,

As the workday comes to a close, we wanted to reach out with some recent updates, as well as reminders.

If you have questions regarding COVID-19, please contact the Village at response@keybiscayne.fl.gov. We want to hear your concerns. Also, if some of your questions consist of What is Open on the Key? What is Closed on the Key? How do I receive Village information? Please review these fact sheets and virtually share them with your neighbors.

On March 24 Miami-Dade County issued Emergency Order 10-20 which states more than 10 people shall not gather in public, and lists specific and essential service exemptions.

Quality of life is a core value of our Village. We are looking into the feasibility of whether the Village of Key Biscayne could establish a testing site or provide similar alternatives. We will receive data in the coming days to evaluate what it would take to deliver this service to residents, what resource and ask is needed from the mainland and County, and could the Village leverage existing health resources on the island, like CVS Health, Baptist Health, health professionals, etc., to deliver quick and easy testing to residents.

We all need to lead by example. To this end, the Village is actively working to get construction sites to voluntarily cease construction. To-date, many have complied, but we need full cooperation to help flatten the curve. Tomorrow we will continue our efforts to achieve 100% voluntary compliance and evaluate progress to-date before the weekend.

While COVID-19 continues to impact life as we know it, the Village of Key Biscayne is committed to protecting the quality of life on the Key. We will deliver excellence and preserve a unified sense of community. Alexis Carrel, Nobel Laureate, said it best: “the quality of life is more important than life itself.” We are the Key to flatten the curve.

Have a good night,
Your Village of Key Biscayne
